James Gray Garden Building

From start to finish our experience with James Gray was such a positive one. The initial, no sales pressure, site visit came packed with ideas, information and advice from James. The build was brilliantly executed in double quick time, by teams of workers, all of whom were a joy to have around. Attention to detail was second to none, as was the brilliant customer service. The end result is a beautiful calm sanctuary, where we can connect closer to nature. An investment, not only in our property, but also in our health. Priceless!

We recently had a garden room installed by James Gray and couldn’t be happier with the whole experience. From start to finish, everything was handled smoothly and professionally, which made the entire process stress-free. The quality of the build is excellent, and the finished space has completely transformed how we use our home. It’s made such a difference having that extra room, and we’re absolutely delighted with how it’s turned out. A special mention as well for how responsive and helpful the team (James, Neale, Amy, Dan, Russell) have been even after the installation. All the small snags were sorted quickly and thoroughly, and it was great to see the attention to detail even finishing off little touches we hadn’t spotted ourselves. We had a very odd triangle shape at the bottom of our garden we wanted a bespoke garden room built in. Friends recommended James Gray and within a few days of making contact, we had a first site review via zoom booked in. James, our designer, asked what we wanted and on the zoom call started to sketch out a plan. On that basis we got a rough idea on price. The next step was CAD site drawing detailing all the elements from size of the plot, colour of the building, placement and type of windows and doors etc. With help from the great design team our ideas quickly became a finalised plan. The team were faultlessly kind in dealing with my many questions and requests for special sliding doors, barn doors and loft doors (sorry James and Amy!) and reenforced floors and heatproof walls to accommodate a pottery kiln. It took about 8 weeks from the plan being finalised to having a build team on site. As the whole structure is built offsite a team of 10 builders had the whole thing built in 2 days. As we have a narrow house most of the structure came through our hall and kitchen but the team lined the floor and walls to make sure nothing was damaged. Without exception they were all polite, hardworking and friendly. We then had a team of 2-4 people on site for another week to do all the wiring, cladding and decorating. Simon and Russell were fabulous - again hugely accommodating, hard working and friendly. Our build was completed in around 10 days and looks exactly as planned. We had a couple of snagging issues as you’d expect but instead of having to wait weeks for these to be fixed, builders and electricians were back within a couple of days. We absolutely love the garden room, it’s everything we could have wished for thanks to the amazing team at James Gray. We’d have no hesitation in recommending them.
