John and his team were thorough and friendly, and communication was always very good with quick and thorough responses to any questions. We asked for a bespoke design: a two-room format in which one room was double walled for sound proofing (a music area), and the other room was light and bright for use as an art space. The final product was exactly what we wanted. The photos attached show it just over a week after the build was complete. You can see that it is far from being a building site, as the team worked carefully to accommodate the build into the garden without trashing the surroundings. We would whole-heartedly recommend Rubicon Garden Rooms; I can't think of anything negative to say: what a great experience.
Amazing from design to completion. Rubicon have just completed our 2 bed annexe in our garden and we are over the moon. They have made our plans a reality. From the initial meeting with John to communicating our endless questions through the portal to Rob and John to then the build! It went amazingly well and whatever the weather the team were out there working. The craftsmen ship and professionalism of all the team was amazing. No question was left unanswered and we felt look after throughout. This has allowed me and my mum to live our plan out with us in the main house and them in the annexe. Our annexe is 6.5M by 11.5M and it looks amazing inside and out. Even now a week after completion we know John and Rob are at the end of the phone. If your thinking of getting an annexe all I can say is do it! 9 weeks from mud to completion and thats incredible for the sheer size and thats with a few days not on site AMAZING :) few photos of the annexe “real life” photos nothing tidied away but you can see the space and how stunning it looks. Great people working here who are helpful and friendly. If you're thinking about this kind of feature being added this is probably the best provider in the Merseyside region. Update 17th December 2025 Project started on 27th November and was completed (linking in electrical connection) on 15th December. The team involved did an incredible job, working sometimes in awful weather (there was heavy rain on 4 days). Minimal disturbance but clear consultation on points of detail when required (eg placing of power sockets). Mystified by the 2 negative comments here. My own experience is the same as that of all of the other reports here from people who have actually contracted Rubicon to undertake construction. Excellent, professional group who take their work seriously.
Rubicon designed, planned and built a garden room for use as a cake studio. From the initial discussion with John to the completion of the project, everyone at Rubicon was professional, helpful and obviously care about what they do and their customers. After care service is also great. Highly recommended. Thank you John and the team for creating a great space for me to grow my business.
Wanted our own rehearsal space for our touring tribute band but was conscious of annoying the neighbours so needed it to be soundproof and large enough for all equipment. Also wanted the room to double up as personal music studio and home office space for day job. Found Rubicon through a Google search and fortunately was able to visit them as they happened to be local for us. John never tried to hard sell - only advised - and when we got the quote it was perfect, within budget and totally value for money. The build took only 2-3 weeks, they didn't even enter our premises (even brought a Portaloo!), were courteous and even had great chats with lots of them, but most importantly the room is AMAZING! A really beautiful feature in our garden and talking point! With all construction projects there are snags but any, regardless of how minor, were attended to in the shortest time span! John, Rob and team are amazing and would highly recommend!
We were very impressed with Rubicon Garden Rooms. John showed us around the various examples in his showroom and as we were looking for a bespoke residential property, he was very accommodating to our own specific design layout and our accessibility needs. Rubicon took care of everything including arranging the planning process with our local council, (Certificate of Lawful Development) which didn’t take long at all. We also found Rubicon’s staged payment schedule extremely useful, and meant that we could pay for the build as it was progressing, which was good for our peace of mind. The quality of the exterior and interior was exceptional. We had looked at other companies and found Rubicon was very competitively priced. We felt that the quality of materials used, superior finish and attention to detail to be excellent value for money. We were particularly impressed with the stone polymer composite flooring which is completely waterproof and ideal for shower rooms, together with the attractive wipeable wall covering which was available in a number of designs. The Insulated metal composite roofing and exterior wall cladding also looks very impressive, as does all the exterior, such as the windows, doors and lighting. The build team team worked efficiently, cleanly and removed rubbish after each day. This was quite a large project, with 2 bedrooms, 2 shower rooms, the usual living room/kitchen and a number of cupboards etc., to accommodate washer/dryer, cloakroom cupboard, and a space to house our electric wheelchairs with charging points. In addition, we opted for wheel chair accessible doors throughout (90cm wide), a low threshold exterior access door, comfort height toilets, a half-height wall between living room and kitchen, a feature landscape fire (fab-u-lous) complete with chimney breast. Although Rubicon offer a perfectly good kitchen package, we chose to use a local kitchen company (which we’d used before), as they offered ‘made to measure’ units to optimise space and storage. The Rubicon build team worked well with them to supply water, drainage and electrics in all the right places. Nothing was too much trouble. As with any bespoke design, there were a couple of minor amends and alterations which emerged as the build progressed, but John and his team worked with us in order to resolve these minor issues to our complete satisfaction. We can say that, now we have lived in the cabin for almost 4 weeks, we are delighted with the quality of workmanship and in the end product itself. We would highly recommend Rubicon Garden Rooms to anyone thinking about either an ‘off the peg’ small addition of an office or Gym to a bespoke 2 or 3 bedroomed retirement residence like ours!.
Fantastic buying experience from John and the team at Rubicon. I was working to a specific deadline as my building is my office and they ensured the project was finished on time. The quality of the build, the materials and the design is superb and the team that come and do the installation were excellent. Very happy indeed.
