ShedsFirst Ltd
What customers say
Assembly speed and shed quality are what many customers single out when describing orders from this Bedford-based supplier, though experiences vary considerably. Several accounts mention that sheds and potting sheds arrived on schedule, with one buyer praising live van tracking and having a structure standing within three hours of delivery. The materials are often described as good quality, with clear components and enough hardware included, and one reviewer specifically noted a well-designed potting shed assembled within a day. A point raised more than once concerns the assembly instructions, which some found poorly written or requiring extra research through online videos to complete the build efficiently. Groundwork and additional bracing are sometimes mentioned as necessary extras, with buyers reinforcing floors or ridge beams themselves for added stability. However, a notable minority report serious problems with installation, including roof fixing that fell short of expected standards, floor and roof panels made from cheaper board than specified, and installers who lacked proper experience. Communication after raising complaints is described as slow in these cases, with delays of weeks before issues were addressed. Telephone staff are generally described as pleasant and helpful when contacted. The company operates from Edison Road in Bedford, with office hours running Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5pm and no weekend availability.

Great communication at all stages of order, delivered on time and high quality shed which was easy to install, would highly recommend, we are very happy with our purchase.
Bought the 1.80m x 1.04m metal shed. Fairly quick delivery. Quite complicated to put up- lots of small pieces (give yourself a whole day to do it and a few friends to help!). Instructions required you to read ahead 2 or 3 pages and then go back, otherwise you'll be undoing and redo-ing screws. Overall, a good shed, but will need sheltering from the wind!!
One of the worst experiences buying online. I paid over £2000 for a 14x6 security shed which should have had 12mm roof and floor made from tongue and groove (see pictures) Both floor and roof sections all had a4 size paper stapled on to them stating my proof. Both floor and roof were made from cheap fibre board. I contacted sheds first (Bedford sheds) to complain and was told that someone would contact me regarding this issue. It has now been several weeks later and still no response. I have left a review on trustpilot with both the order number and a more detailed account. Are considering getting legal advice because other trustpilot reviews state similar issues. Do not buy online and check with trustpilot before if you do. ORDER-539350. Update. Your response to my review is a disgrace. Under no circumstances will I be forced to try and contact you again regarding this. Any half decent manager would be phoning me. I have all the proof i need and will take this further if no contact is received to resolve the issue.
The Potting Shed arrived on time and I assembled the main structure within one day (with some help from my wife). They were generally all good quality components, clear instructions, and the shed well desiged. I changed the hand of the door by reversing it but had to modify the position of the lock as it was slightly out of line. I redesigned the staging support as I preferred to have more substantial legs and to make it easier to fit. We also decided to insulate and line the internal walls and roof. This, along with painting inside and out, fitting guttering and a water butt, took far more time than the initial assembly, but it looks really good. My next job on the shed is to install some lighting.
I ordered a large premium garden office with additional cost extra height door and ceiling and concrete base options in mid-April. They required me to pay 50% in advance having advised me on making the order that the shed would be delivered and installed within 21 days. Having made payment they then advised me the concrete base could not be installed until mid May meaning the office would be installed early June - well beyond 21 days. I decided to stick with the order though I was unhappy that I'd not been told this in advance. The concrete base was installed in mid-May by the sub contractors ShedsFirst employ but I was then advised there were delays in getting parts of the garden office delivered from the manufacturer....this is 2 months after I'd made the order. After a lot of pursuing on my part I finally got a confirmed delivery and install date of June 17th. In advance of the install ShedsFirst say they will provide detailed pictures of the fully built office and have the customer see everything is as it should be and provide the customer with the opportunity to advise of any changes wanted. They then expect to take final payment in advance of the install. What I received was 3 very unclear pics of a partially constructed shed that had little resemblance to a fully built office. ShedsFirst nevertheless tried to take final payment in advance of delivery and install but when I refused explaining I couldn't have confidence in what I was getting given the information and pictures provided, they eventually agreed to take payment when the office was close to completion on the day of install. I was told the install would take 2-3 hours. On the day of install, a team of 2 people arrived to install the large office . It was apparent straight away that a team of 2 was really inadequate for the scale of the job and the size of the floor, wall and roof panels involved in handling. The installers worked really hard but were clearly struggling and the installation took around 8.5 hours. A significant issue arose with the installation of the doors which as manufactured did not fit the door opening and the double door locks did not align. The installers who were tired and desperate to finish the job tried to "fix" the issue by chiselling out rather than properly plaining and sanding down the door size and by very untidely hacking out the lock area to adjust the lock positions. While doing so the double glazed unit on one of the doors shattered and the inner door frame and lock surrounds have been left in a pretty poor and shoddy state needing repair which is just not acceptable for what is an expensive and supposed to be premium product. The installer suggested that all that was required was to replace the double glazed unit suggesting that the state the door frame and lock surrounds was left in was OK because the doors fitted and now locked. It clearly isn't. I've now got seeing how ShedsFirst address these issues to look forward to. UPDATE Need to update as I've noticed further significant issues with the garden office. There are 2 side panels, the front on the left wall and rear on the right wall where the top of the panel is clearly damaged and missing part of the panel. There is also damage, though not as extensive, to one of the front wall panels As a result there are significant sections of the area where the roof attaches / sits on the walls where there is a very significant gap. In addition to these panels there are ones on the front where the roof is not "sealing" against the wall panels. There are instances where we have screws that are supposed to be attaching the roof to the walls at the front completely missing the wall altogether and hence not attaching the roof. This is supposed to be a premium installed INSULATED garden office that has cost £15,000, but it has been built shoddily using damaged panels leaving huge gaps. This is all in addition to the issues with doors that I have already raised and am awaiting resolution on.
Shed was installed in the dark, absolutely shocking build quality by the driver, who admitted he wasn’t an installer. They sent a professional out to rectify it, based on photos provided and he came out with no parts to it right. Front valence in 2 halves, still waiting for that to be put right. All in all not happy with service. However on a positive note the people are lovely when you call up!
Extremely disappointed with ShedsFirst LTD and we would not recommend to anyone. We decided to go for them based on the quick turnaround promise and relatively good reviews. We paid an additional £400 for installation. From here its all down hill. The roof of our Shed has not been fixed to the basic professional standards you would expect. See image examples. It has been a month since we made payment and more than 10 days since raising the issue with ShedsFirst LTD and we still await clarity on when we will have our Shed re-installed correctly. What makes the entire experience even more disheartening is that we haven't had an apology or an indication of any compensation for the inconvenience this continues to cause us.
