Elfords Ltd

Elfords Ltd is a family-run garden rooms and offices business based in Portsmouth. It was founded in 1982 by Mr Elford. Dean Woodgate started at Elfords in 1986 and became the owner in 2007. The team includes Dean Woodgate (Director & Customer Service), Tina Woodgate (Office & Administration Manager), Luke Woodgate (Foreman & Quality Control), Harry Reader (Delivery & Installation), and Owen Vincent (Assembly & Workshop Support).

Elfords serves customers across Hampshire and West Sussex, including Portsmouth, Winchester, Romsey, Hayling Island and Southampton. It builds timber sheds, summer houses, beach huts, garages, and workshops. Elfords has been crafting timber buildings for over 40 years and is trusted by councils, businesses and homeowners. It uses 75mm x 50mm framing for its timber garages, workshops and beach huts. A 10% deposit is required to secure a delivery date, and delivery and assembly usually take place within 2-8 weeks depending on the time of year.

Elfords Ltd, based at Limberline Spur in Hilsea, Portsmouth, builds a strong following among customers ordering sheds, workshops and summer houses for gardens of varying shapes and sizes. Dean is named repeatedly as the point of contact for bespoke measurements and site visits, with reviewers praising his friendly, straightforward approach to advising on design options. A theme that recurs is the speed of installation, with old structures dismantled and new ones erected in under two hours in many cases, even for awkward or restricted spaces close to neighbouring properties. Delivery teams are consistently described as courteous, respectful of gardens and capable of working efficiently regardless of weather conditions.

Several customers mention returning to Elfords for a second or third purchase after previous good experiences, citing consistent quality and value for money as reasons for coming back. The timber used is noted as high standard, and reviewers appreciate the ability to personalise details such as door position and colour to suit an individual garden layout. Clear pricing and a straightforward ordering process are mentioned alongside the practical build quality, with the Hilsea workshop open on Saturday mornings for those wanting to discuss requirements in person before committing to an order.
