South Downs Garden Rooms

Brilliant service and build from start to finish! We are thrilled with our new garden room. Thank you so much Luke and team for your guidance, communication, hard work and excellent craftsmanship throughout the build. We have loved getting to know the team and spend time with them over the last few weeks. Big shout out to Charlie who has project managed brilliantly and whose attention to detail has been second to none! Thank you again for all you have done.

I planned to build a garden room for a full-sized snooker table. After looking at some 'off-the-shelf' garden room options, I realised that I would need something more bespoke - nothing was large enough or constructed to a suitable standard. Luke and his company were recommended to me by a builder who had done work for me at my house previously. Luke came to talk about my plan and to see the proposed location. He took measurements and drew up some renderings from our combined ideas to show a 3D design. Once we had verified the required internal dimensions required to comfortably fit a full-sized snooker table, the design of the foundation screws layout and the floor joists was adapted to take the huge weight of a snooker table, and the final drawings were drawn up. From there, Luke took care of the architect plans, the planning application and the building regs - Work started on the planned date. The build standard, quality of work and finish are better than I could have imagined. It is by far the best room at the house. I am very happy with the outcome and I am pleased that I chose to go with Luke. I highly recommend Luke and Connection Timber Buildings.

I'm updating my initial positive review for my South Downs Garden Room to highlight some significant concerns regarding the electrical installation and subsequent service. We discovered an issue in August last year with a junction box, installed by the electrician South Downs Garden room contracted in January last year, which connected to our mains in the garage. It was only protected by electrical tape that was peeling away (photo attached), which was a safety concern. We contacted South Downs Garden Rooms immediately. After a month of being told someone would contact us about the issue, we hired our own independent electrician in September last year, who confirmed the installation was unsafe, to make the necessary corrections to ensure our home's safety, incurring those costs ourselves. We also learned from our electrician that a Part P electrical installation certificate should have been issued for the original work. We don't recall receiving one and haven't been able to locate it. Despite repeated requests to South Downs Garden Rooms since September for this document, we have not received it. To ensure the safety of the full installation, we asked our electrician to carry out a thorough inspection in January of this year. This inspection revealed additional safety concerns, including unearthed lighting circuits and an incorrect fuse rating within the garden office. We are disappointed by the lack of response and follow-up from South Downs Garden Rooms regarding these important safety matters. While the garden office itself is a good and we are still happy with it, the handling of the electrical installation and the subsequent lack of communication have been a cause for concern.

I'm really pleased with the garden office built by South Downs Garden Rooms. From start to finish, the experience was smooth and professional. The construction was completed impressively quickly, and the attention to detail was clear throughout. The team was polite, tidy, and respectful of our space, keeping everything clean at the end of each day. Communication was easy—Luke was always approachable, responsive, and helpful. I’d happily recommend South Downs Garden Rooms to anyone considering a garden office.

I am forever greatful for the garden office which was seamless from the design to the full build. The office itself is beautiful is easy maintenance and the best materials were used. I highly recommend these guys if you’re looking at garden offices
