Total Garden Rooms

We signed a contract with Total Home NI on 10th November for a garden room, having been clearly told the installation would take approximately 12 weeks (see graphic), with a possible margin of a week or two — which we were completely comfortable with. During the sales stage, Ryan was very efficient and communicated well, which gave us confidence in proceeding. However, once we moved from sales to contracts, the level of communication fell apart. Emails sent to the address provided on the contract were returned as undeliverable, further limiting our ability to make contact. By January, having heard nothing, we left three messages with no response. On the fourth attempt, we were eventually told that the work was subcontracted out and that the builder was not responding to their messages. This was the first time we were made aware that the work was subcontracted. We were then informed that, due to the builder being busy, the earliest possible installation would now be the end of March. However, this date has not been confirmed, and we have been advised that it may be later still, extending the overall timeline to well beyond the originally agreed timeframe. The garden room was intended to be a home office, which is desperately needed given our living situation. When this was raised, we were told that “we wouldn’t be using it until the spring anyway so it would be fine” — a dismissive and inappropriate response, particularly given that we have already paid over £10,000. The key issues here are lack of communication, lack of transparency, and failure to manage delays appropriately. We have made repeated attempts to resolve this directly but have received little to no response. As a result, we feel we have been left with no option but to post this review in order to gain attention to the situation. We would be more than happy to amend or update this review should the matter be resolved and communication improve. At present, however, we cannot recommend this company based on our experience. Update: Total Rooms has now been in touch, and Richard was extremely helpful and apologetic. Our completion date has been confirmed, which we really appreciate. We’ve updated our review from 1 star to 3 stars to reflect the recent improvements and the way our concerns have been handled. The project did extend from 12 to 18 weeks, and the delays and communication challenges mid-process were stressful, so we feel 3 stars is fair rather than 5. We’re grateful for the efforts made to put things right and would recommend the company based on how the situation has been addressed.

We recently had two garden verandas installed by Total Garden Rooms, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. The workmanship and quality are outstanding, and the verandas have completely transformed our outdoor space. They’ve given us the perfect setting for family meals outside, social gatherings with friends, and even those quiet, peaceful moments when we just want to sit and enjoy the garden – even in the rain! The verandas feel like a natural extension of our home and have already made such a positive impact on how we use our outdoor space. It’s a decision we know we’ll appreciate for many years to come.
